Jungfrau Region!
Jungfrau, Switzerland
Murren, Jungfrau:

Murren Lift Mürren is an iconic Swiss mountain village perched high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, renowned for its narrow, car-free streets, cozy chalets, and timeless alpine charm. With panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau all around, it feels like stepping into a postcard. This authentic atmosphere invites you to slow down and savor the simpler rhythms of mountain life, an experience you won’t find in bigger, busier ski resorts. No Gucci or Versace here - just snow boots, mountain views, and that warm, welcoming Swiss soul infused with a sense of genuine Alpine wonder!

What makes Mürren truly unique for a snow sports trip is how seamlessly the village blends classic Swiss hospitality with top-notch winter access. You can stroll through town to the lifts and be skiing within minutes, then return to a cozy après-ski scene among family-run restaurants and local shops. Its pedestrian-only setting creates a peaceful, car-free bubble of tranquility, ensuring that every moment, from early morning ski runs to starlit walks, is infused with a sense of genuine Alpine wonder.

Even more exciting for our 2026 trip, Mürren will be served by the brand-new SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX gondola. This revolutionary lift project features the steepest vertical rise of any aerial cableway in the world, connecting the valley floor at Stechelberg to Mürren with faster, more comfortable cabins and jaw-dropping views. It means easier access, shorter travel times, and an even more scenic journey into the mountains, making Mürren not only charming and authentic, but also one of the most efficiently connected ski destinations in the Alps. It’s the perfect blend of old-world Alps charm and modern adventure, and a great way to kick off our unforgettable week in the Jungfrau region.

Schilthorn & Piz Gloria:

Piz Gloria Sunset Schilthorn & Piz Gloria is one of the Jungfrau region’s most dazzling highlights; a 2,970 m peak offering 360° panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Featured in the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, it boasts a spectacular revolving restaurant that lets you dine while taking in the breathtaking Alpine scenery. Getting there from Mürren is simple: just hop on the cable car!

Once at Piz Gloria, savor lunch or a warm drink with mesmerizing mountain vistas all around, perfect for unforgettable photos. But the adventure doesn’t stop there. From the summit, you can ski the famous 007 Run, a thrilling red-rated piste that recreates scenes from the Bond film as it winds dramatically down toward Birg. It’s fast, fun, and scenic, a true must-ski for fans and thrill-seekers alike. Whether you’re carving the James Bond run, exploring challenging off-piste terrain, soaking in cinematic history, or simply admiring the views, a visit to Schilthorn & Piz Gloria will be an unforgettable highlight of our Mürren week.

Jungfrau Region Iconic Peaks:

Snowblower train TWT 2004! One of the highlights of our Mürren, Jungfrau adventure it an excursion to the legendary Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. This unforgettable experience begins with a scenic ride on the historic Jungfrau Railway, ascending through tunnels carved into the heart of the Eiger and Mönch to reach Europe’s highest railway station at 3,454 meters (11,332 ft). At the summit, we’ll step into a high-alpine wonderland of snow, ice, and sky, with sweeping views of the Aletsch Glacier, the longest in the Alps, and over 200 peaks stretching as far as the eye can see. Explore the awesome Ice Palace in the glacier, visit the dramatic Sphinx Observatory, and take photos along the Alpine Sensation platform, an experience truly worthy of a “bucket list” moment.
Jungfraujoch was a key filming location for Clint Eastwood’s The Eiger Sanction, giving our visit a cinematic twist as we stand in the very spot where the dramatic glacier scenes were shot. It’s the perfect break from the slopes, filled with fun, history, epic views, and unforgettable memories!

Framing our journey are the stunning Mönch and Jungfrau peaks, rising above Mürren in classic Alpine glory. Towering over 4,000 meters, they complete the iconic trio that defines the Bernese Oberland. These peaks aren’t just beautiful, they give our group trip a powerful sense of place and awe. Whether we’re skiing with them in view, sipping coffee in the village, or just pausing to soak it all in, they remind us why we came here: for the scenery, the skiing, and the shared joy of exploring one of the most magical mountain landscapes on earth!

Lauterbrunnen Valley:

Lauterbrunnen Valley The Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of the most breathtaking and unique alpine valleys in the world, and a hidden gem that adds incredible depth to our Mürren & Jungfrau snow-sports adventure. Nestled between towering rock walls and snow-dusted peaks, Lauterbrunnen is often called the “Valley of 72 Waterfalls” for good reason. In winter, these dramatic waterfalls, including the famous Staubbach Falls, freeze into shimmering columns of ice, creating a surreal and peaceful landscape that looks straight out of a storybook.

Descending into the valley from Mürren is like stepping into another world. Whether we visit for a peaceful winter walk, a scenic train ride to Wengen or Interlaken, or simply to admire the frozen falls and vertical cliffs that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s Rivendell, Lauterbrunnen offers a welcome contrast to the high-altitude skiing. It’s quiet, stunning, and deeply atmospheric, perfect for photos, café stops, or just soaking up the serene Swiss winter magic!

The Lauterbrunnen valley connects Mürren, Wengen, and Grindelwald via scenic trains and cable cars, making it a natural part of our exploration. While the slopes offer thrills, Lauterbrunnen offers a chance to slow down, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and appreciate just how special this place is. It’s one of those rare locations that adds soul to a ski trip and makes the whole week feel like more than just time on the slopes, it becomes a true Alpine experience.

Birg & Thrill Walk:

Birg & Thrill Walk Just above Mürren, the Birg Thrill Walk is one of the most unique and exhilarating attractions in the Jungfrau region, perfect for an adventure with a little edge. Suspended along the vertical rock face at 2,684 meters (8,806 feet), this glass-and-steel walkway wraps around the Birg station platform, offering heart-racing views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley far below. You'll tiptoe across glass floors, balance on mesh pathways, crawl through a steel tunnel, and even step out onto a tightrope-like section (with handrails, of course). It’s a fun and safe way to feel like you're floating above the Alps, and the perfect place for dramatic group photos with the iconic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks as your backdrop.

Birg also serves as the mid-station between Mürren and Schilthorn, making it an ideal stop on your way to the famous Piz Gloria. The area around Birg is also a launch point for thrilling ski runs, including some off-piste routes for advanced skiers. From where we’re staying in Mürren, it’s a quick and scenic cable car ride up to Birg, meaning we can easily combine a morning on the slopes with an unforgettable visit to the Thrill Walk, all within a few hours. It’s another reason why Mürren offers such a unique and varied ski experience: adventure, beauty, and world-class skiing, all right at our doorstep.

Lauberhorn World Cup:

Lauberhorn Downhill One of the most exhilarating highlights of our Jungfrau ski adventure is the chance to ski the legendary Lauberhorn World Cup Downhill course - the longest and one of the most famous runs on the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit. Starting just above the picturesque village of Wengen, this historic course stretches over 4.4 km (2.7 miles) and drops more than 1,000 meters in elevation. It includes iconic sections like the Hundschopf jump, Canadian Corner, and the high-speed final straight into Wengen, all framed by breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.

What makes this run even more special is that intermediate and advanced recreational skiers can ski the same course used by the world’s top racers. Accessible on your lift pass as part of a day trip from Mürren, the route to the Lauberhorn course includes scenic cable cars and mountain trains that add to the sense of adventure. Whether you carve it top to bottom or just take in the atmosphere and views, skiing the Lauberhorn is a true bucket-list experience.

Tobogganing/Sledging:

Jungfrau, Switzerland Winter Hiking For pure, carefree fun in the snow, nothing beats a good old-fashioned toboggan run, and the Jungfrau region is full of them! From gentle scenic descents to thrilling, twisting tracks through forested slopes, tobogganing is a favorite Swiss winter pastime (as Sledging) and an ideal activity for skiers and non-skiers alike. You don’t need any special skills, just hop on, hang on, and enjoy the ride! Runs like the ones at Sulwald (above Lauterbrunnen) and Bussalp (above Grindelwald) offer some of the longest and most exciting sledding trails in the region, with spectacular views and plenty of laughs guaranteed.

Tobogganing is easy to access with local lifts and trains, and rentals are available right at the base of the runs. Whether you plan an afternoon of sledding or include it as a fun detour on a sightseeing day, it’s a perfect way to switch up the pace and enjoy the mountains from a different angle. Many routes also end near cozy alpine restaurants or huts, ideal for warming up with a hot chocolate or mulled wine after your run. It’s snow-filled fun for all ages, and one more reason our Jungfrau adventure offers something for everyone.

Cross-Country & Winter Walking:

Jungfrau, Switzerland Winter Hiking The Jungfrau region is a winter playground for everyone, not just downhill skiers. With over 100 kilometers of groomed trails, it offers two distinctly rewarding ways to explore the snow-covered landscape: cross-country skiing and winter walking. Both provide a peaceful, scenic escape into alpine meadows, quiet forests, and panoramic ridgelines, but each offers a different rhythm and experience.

Winter walking, or snow hiking, is ideal for those who prefer a slower pace and want to enjoy the serene beauty of the mountains on foot. Well-prepared trails lead through valleys and villages and offer easy access from Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, and along the ridge between Grütschalp and Mürren. These paths are wide, groomed, and often sunny, perfect for casual strolls, scenic photo stops, and time shared with friends. Many are accessible directly by train or cable car, making it simple to combine a gentle hike with sightseeing or lunch in a mountain hut.

cross-country skiing offers a more dynamic, but equally peaceful way to experience the terrain. Mürren features a small loop near the village for beginners or warm-up laps, while nearby Grindelwald Grund, Lauterbrunnen, and Haslital offer longer, beautifully maintained trails for classic or skate skiing. These trails wind through frozen pastures, forest corridors, and along rivers and ravines with dramatic views of the surrounding peaks at nearly every turn. Whether you're an experienced Nordic skier or trying it for the first time, the steady glide and meditative rhythm make cross-country a great complement to your week on the slopes.

For both walkers and Nordic skiers, these trails offer a chance to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy a different kind of alpine magic. It’s the perfect way to balance your ski holiday, especially for non-skiers in the group or anyone looking for a more relaxed day in the snow.

Mürren Sports Centre:

Mürren Sports Centre Pool Relax, rejuvenate & recharge in the Mürren Sports Centre, just steps from our hotel, the Mürren Sports Centre offers the perfect way to unwind after a day on the slopes or to enjoy a relaxing indoor break from the snow. We receive complimentary access to the indoor swimming pool and wellness facilities through the Mürren Guest Card GoldenCard, making it easy to enjoy a dip with mountain views or a quiet moment to rejuvenate. The centre also features a modern fitness room, sauna area, ice skating rink (weather permitting), and even curling lanes for those who want to try something new. It’s a fantastic amenity for both skiers and non-skiers in our group, and another reason why Mürren offers such a well-rounded and rewarding winter experience. Whether you're swimming laps with the Alps outside the window or joining friends for a casual skate, the Mürren Sports Centre is a great way to balance adventure with relaxation.
Indoor pool & Ice rink included
25% discount on wellness services (massages, sauna, cosmetic treatments)
10% off the Alpine Spa, fitness room, and jacuzzi

  5. One of Our Most Requested Destinations. The Jungfrau region remains one of our club’s all-time favorite locations, and among the most frequently requested by our longtime members. A few of the photos on this page show kids from two decades ago, some now bring their own kids on our club's trips!
  6. Authentic Switzerland, Unfiltered and Beautiful. Mürren is widely considered one of the most charming and picturesque villages in the Alps. From snow-dusted chalets to dramatic cliffside views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, it’s everything you imagine Switzerland to be.
  7. Saturday-to-Sunday Direct Flights from Boston. Enjoy convenient non-stop, round-trip flights from Boston, departing on Saturday and returning the following Sunday, no weekday travel required. Also avoids the local Saturday resort “changeover day” traffic.
Currently Skis fly free on Swiss Airlines so no charge for your check-in ski bag in addition to you checked bag and carry-on.
You also have the option of your own flights and joining us in Zürich.

  9. Unmatched Scenery and Sights. From jaw-dropping vistas on every ski run to peaceful winter trails and daily views of the Eiger, this region is just as rewarding off the slopes as it is on them. Awe-inspiring moments and photo ops are around every corner.
  10. Historically an ideal week, avoiding college or school break weeks, and with great snow sports conditions! Europe tends to be better later in the season, Mid February - Early March, with early March usually having the best combination of conditions and fewer crowds.
  11. Flexible dining options - just as many have requested! First and last night hotel dinners are included, with a 7-night dinner package available. Many members prefer the freedom to explore local cuisine, and Mürren makes that easy. With gondolas running until after 11 PM, you’ll have plenty of time for dinner or evening adventures both in and beyond the village - no need to rush back.
Choosing Mürren for Winter 2026 is more than just another ski trip, it’s a chance to immerse yourself in the heart of the Swiss Alps, experience world-class snow sports, and do it all from one of the most beautiful and well-connected mountain villages in Europe.
