OUR INNSBRUCK PLANS / AGENDA

What to expect:
Our intent is to put together an exceptional value trip and visit multiple resorts in Austria. The only extras while were there should be lunch, nightlife and non-skiing excursions. Transportation is included to all ski areas (unlike Italy). Donal & Steve visited Innsbruck in February 2005 and checked out all the hotels, town and a few of the resorts (St. Anton, Stubai Glacier & Axamer Lizum). Everything was great and we found that the Hotel Grauer Bär and Hotel Innsbruck were the best in terms of comfort, luxury, location and amenities. We should be able to answer any questions you have.
There are a wide variety of resorts available including the world renowned Kitzbühel and Saint Anton in the Arlberg region (see movie) resorts. You will find Innsbruck more affordable than any place we have visited to date. Beer and wine is approx 2.30 - 3.00 EU and in many cases souvenirs are half the cost of Italy and Switzerland. Innsbruck is a major train hub; therefore you can get trains to many cities (attractions) such as Salzburg. There are many historical sights, museums and attractions so there is plenty to do for the non-skier or on your day off from the slopes.

Innsbruck Super Lift Pass Option: Amazing Snowboard shot at Seegrube
Ski/Ride five out of six days. This is your key to 750 kilometers of skiable terrain serviced by 205 ski lifts: This multi-day Ticket is valid at the eight Olympic SkiWorld resorts (includes all of the multi-day Glacier Ski Pass: Nordpark, Patscherkofel, Axamer Lizum, Kühtai, Rangger Köpfl, Glungezer, Schlick 2000, and Stubai Glacier) and gives you the option of skiing the renowned resorts of Kitzbühel and/or Arlberg (St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs, Lech).
5 of 6 Days lift ticket - Other options available: $260 (15 and under $176) $US, includes card deposit:
  • 3-Day Lift Pass for the greater Innsbruck Ski Area
  • 1-Day Lift Ticket and roundtrip coach to the Kitzbühel Resort
  • 1-Day Lift Ticket and roundtrip coach to Arlberg Resort

Potential Innsbruck Ski/Ride Agenda:
Requires Innsbruck Super Lift Pass: Ski/Ride five out of six days.
This is an option agenda; you can go to different resorts, as there is a ski bus to and from all the local resorts. As on previous trips we will have non-skiers/riders and those who only ski few days and tour the wonderful region of Innsbruck. There may be a limitation (bus size) on the group size for this agenda. Preference given to thoes who pre-purchase the Super Lift pas and then previous travelers/members.

Saturday - Check in with our group 3:30 min prior to departure. Leave Boston or New York.

Sunday - Arrive in Munich, Germany. Transfer as a group to hotel via coach. Check out Innsbruck. Sunday evening orientation meeting.

Monday - Axamer Lizum Purpose built for the 1964 Winter Olympic Games and a host again in 1976.

Tuesday - Kitzbühel "The Pearl of the Alps" is widely considered to have the best downhill skiing in the world. Skiing began here in the winter of 1892. While only advanced skiers dare brave Hahnenkamm’s steep slopes, there are nearly 330 runs in the area, many of which are suitable for beginners. Requires super ski pass.

Wednesday - Stubai Glacier One of Europe's few year-round ski destinations and one of the largest glacier ski areas in the world. (Valée Blanche Glacier Survivors: This Glacier is at the top of a mountain, not a valley therefore no hiking in and out!)

Thursday - Kühtai Skiing at over 2520 meters (8,267 feet)!, this is Austria's highest winter resort.

Friday - Saint Anton, Arlberg Region Large ski area and Europe’s liveliest ski resort’ hosted the Alpine World Championships in 2001. Calling itself a Weltdorf or ‘World Village,’ the resort has a genuinely international outlook. I put my national ski patrol (Ski Ward!) training into practice when Steve and myself assisted in a mountain rescue when we checked it out in 2005!. Requires super ski pass.

Saturday - Ski another Tyrolean resort or check out Innsbruck, Salzburg, etc.
Salzburg excursion: Day trip by coach to Salzburg. We will have a tour guide and will visit: Mozart’s Birthplace, the Hapsburg Fortress (Hohensalzburg) and St. Peter’s Abbey and the Catacombs. The excursion is $50 per person, any entrance fees are additional.

Sunday - Check-out of hotel, Travel to Munich airport, Germany and fly home.
Or for thoes on the extension, travel to Munich Germany and spend two additional nights at Hotel Mercure. We will spend two days sightseeing in Munich and visit a famous Biergarten.

Extra Features:

Lots of Non-skiing activates including sleigh rides, tobogganing or an exciting ride on the Olympic Bobsled run. Innsbruck's nightlife, shopping, history, museums and more will keep you busy on non-skiing days and well into the night. St. Anton - Austria Ski Trip February 2006
